Air Force Officer Nominated for NASA Deputy

Alumnus considered for agency post

Matt Anderson (’09) has been nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as NASA’s deputy administrator. Anderson, who received his master’s degree from Embry-Riddle in Aeronautical Science, is a retired colonel in the U.S. Air Force and is vice president at CACI International Inc., a defense consulting and services company. He was also chief growth officer of the Space Force Association.

Anderson served in the Air Force for 24 years, flying nearly 5,000 hours and instructing in the T-6 and T-37 trainer aircraft. He served as senior aide-de-camp to the commander for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command. He was commander of the 4th Airlift Squadron and retired as senior liaison officer to the U.S. Space Command, NORAD and U.S. Northern Command.
